Adecco wins national nurse contract in Norway

2 November 2009

Adecco Medical and Science Division in Norway has just started work recruiting up to 1500 nurses a year for the country’s 100 government hospitals.

Adecco has beaten 30 other contenders for the prestigious contract.

In October last year the Government issued its first ever tender to create a preferred supplier for contract nurse recruitment in Norway covering over 100 hospitals. This covers virtually every hospital in the country as there are only a few private hospitals around. Adecco was already number one in medical and science and nurse recruitment. Up until now, each hospital managed its own nurse recruitment and this is the first time it has been
centralized. This win marks Adecco as 1st on the map in Medical & Science in Norway, which can only help the company's ability to recruit and deliver a great service.

Like many other countries Norway is impacted by the mega trends such as the ageing population which increases demand for medical professionals. Beyond that unemployment is very low indeed – it’s about 2.5%, so it is a very tight labour market and there are just not enough nurses. This makes Adecco's ability to recruit nurses from abroad in markets such as Sweden, Poland and even Iceland an important factor in why Adecco won the contract.
